MicroComputing!
This class has been very interesting, and I have learned alot. In every computer class I have taken in both highschool and junior college we learned about word, excel, powerpoint, and access. This class was different we explored Google and its components, Im pretty computer savvy, I can usually pick up on things that deal with the computer very easily but their were things that we did in this class that I would have never been able to learn on my own. I love Picasa and now I use it all the time. This class will be very helpful in the future with the use of google calender, and being able to create my own web page. Im glad I took this class and have found it very helpful!
BEST BLOG!
*The blog I read was titled Michelle Malkin you can see it by clicking here
The contents on this blog mainly focus on the upcoming election, political views, diversity, and differences in the classroom. She has a very interesting lay out and I love the way she breaks everything up and makes it very easy to find what your looking for. I think it would be important in the education world for teachers, this would help them stay up with the changes in the white house, as long as the diverse situations their students might be coming from, and their rights. She touches on the controversy at the University of Delaware and their residential life. Ethnic segregation is still a major issue at this school, and i think its great she touched on this subject, this is a very important situation and the points she makes are good ones, i truly enjoyed reading this article. This is a very good blog, i don't know how useful it is but its very informative, and shes a reporter so she has a lot of insightful views. Most of the stories she touches on I had never even heard so it was very interesting to read the interesting articles.

I Tunes U
I Tunes University is a new way of receiving higher education. Its the new way for professors to get audio and video to there students. Its designed to inspire students to want to learn more. I tunes U makes it easy for students to see video and lecture footage from other universities around the world. The faculty posts the things they want their students to view on their own page of the I tunes website and its available to everyone.
I love this idea, because I am constantly having to do research and being able to use a website that is ran by teachers would be so helpful, and you never really know if what your reading on the internet is true, but if the posts were by professors and students, it would be more likely to be accurate information. I believe this is a great idea! I truly think that having an online post for professors and teachers is a new and improved way to reach your students and their parents.
I believe having a site like this will tremendously raise grades and make more students interested in their work. I would definitely use this as a student and a teacher. I think turning your I pod into a teaching device is a fantastic idea!!

Duke Uses IPODS
Duke University started a new pilot program this year examining a new way to use digital technology in a creative way. The program cost $500,000 to start and used the motto Attend School...Get cool stuff! They are going to create a special section on the apple website where students can download music, and most importantly course content, including lectures, and audio books.
The students will use the I PODS they receive throughout the year to download course work, field interviews as well as class lectures, that they may not remember or missed. This doesnt mean that if you attend Duke in the future you will receive a free I POD. This is merely a pilot program and they want to see if this really helps students. GO DUKE!!!
I love the idea of this its a great idea, lots of things come up and you may miss a class but being able to download the lectures will help tremendously and even if you were in class but cant remember half of it it will be right there on your I POD to listen to while your studying for an important exam. In the Elementary school I would use I PODS to help remember things like multiplication or the presidents by making up a song or just repeating them over and over again, then make them available to students parents so they can download them and learn along with us, the parents would be able to know what is really being taught in class and then help there children remember. This would really help with test scores!

A Culture Revolution
The article Dr. Strange wrote has alot of valid points in it. It talks about the differences in reading and writing and all the opportunities that are availble to us on the internet. Looking back I remember that in elementary school we had to read books then take quizes on them on the computer: Accelerated reader. But as we got older the assignments required that we read less and less. Our teachers would read to us, or ask us to watch videos on the internet instead. As a consequence I cant stand to read. I would much rather watch the movie or have my teacher inform me about books.
In my college classes today Im required to write papers, make websites, create blogs, there are less and less cases of reading books and handwriting papers. Almost every assignment is online. At my community college I didnt even have to print anything out, I submitted my papers to drop boxes and websites which read my papers and graded them for my teachers. The teaching methods and curriculum are changing greatly every year. It makes you wonder what kind of work our students will be doing in the next few years. There are less and less opportunites to read and write. And more opportunites to explore the interent. Dr. Stranges article predicted these things, and are being proved everyday we go to class.

International Teacher Blog #1
The first blog I found is from a middle school teacher who calls her self a TOC (Teacher of Color) in a Spanish Classroom. Shes very comical and loves to make people laugh. I really enjoyed looking at her blog and I hope you will too so check it out right here. Heres also something cool she had on her site, the picture to the right is actually a petition that she and other teachers are asking people to sign, go to her blog and read all about it.

Books vs. Internet
I believe that one day books for teaching in the classroom may disappear but if this happens, what will the children who do not have access to a computer or the internet at home do. I believe books that we use in todays classroom are a better choice then the internet, sometimes it is very distracting to be on the computer and do homework. From pop-ups, to games, and myspace and email. There are so many other things I would rather do on the computer then try and read my homework. If you have a book it is alot easier to just go in room sit in a chair and read your assignment, so from my opinion I really hope books stick around for awhile!

Teacher Blogs #2
The next blog I found was for the Lafargeville Central School District, this blog allows teachers from the whole district to post blogs for the students and their parents, to inform them what there students are doing each day, and what special events are coming up. My favorite blog on this site was Mrs. Jennifer Corrons, heres the Link
And a Picture from the site.
School Blogs #1
The first blog site I found was for Grandview Elementary School. Their blog is very elaborate and has many links, where the children and there parents can find information about the school and important things going on in there community. They use bright colorful pictues and even a spot where you can listen to stories called the listening center.
This is a picture from the blog.

Creating Links and Adding Pictures to a Blog
To add a link to a page we can either write the html code or use the tools that Blogger has built in. The tool to add a link looks like a link of a chain. This is a link to The Fischbowl , a blog used in training teachers in technology at the Arapahoe CO High School in Littleton, CO.
Here is a picture of the High School.
Help for everyone!
ACCESS can be used by both students and teachers. It allows access to advanced courses, and more courses that are offered. It also provides teachers with more sources and more helpful ways to enhance your students learning expierience. Another great feature is the way it helps you make your courses available over the internet to make it easier for the students. There is also coursework available, that most teachers may not know about, and this will enable them to make sure their students learn everything that they possibly need to know to move on to the next level. This website was also very helpful and is another site that will make my first year of teaching alot easier.
A.L.E.X
This website will be very useful once i start teaching. It has everything you need to get started right there in one website. It has the curriculum and also lesson plans right there it would be very easy to get my plans in order and will also cut off some time since ill be doing all of my work in one place. There are activities and a workplace that I can use for projects and interesting things I find that I can do with my students. I really cant wait to put it to use in my classroom! Only two more years! haha
Shift Happens..
This video was very interesting yet scary at the same time. If all that about education is true then it makes me wonder what is the point, if what im learning now will be outdated in 3 years, why am i working so hard to remember it all? Its also very scary to learn that in the future computers will be able to out smart the human race. So eventually computers will run the world, more than they already are. Wow that video really makes you take a long look at life and think about the choices you are making every day. I just hope we all will be prepared when shit happens.

Overly Stressed!
Its only the second week of school and i'm so tired of reading and homework!! My classes arent that difficult just VERY time consuming! I also have work, and i love to sleep which i have no time for, and im also living somewhere new with FIVE dogs, so im more than a little stressed. I thought not playing softball in college anymore would make me more sane, guess i was wrong...
